Building Trust The Easy Way

My trust is being tested — again! 🙄 😅

A cornerstone of life, trust is a feeling of personal safety and confidence in something or someone 😌✨ — yourself, another person, life, Spirit/Source/God, the universe.

Faster than I feel ready, days are counting down to the next cycling challenge my husband and I are taking up Mt. Washington. Yes, the very one we prepared for last year got canceled at the last minute because of the weather. 😔 ⛈️ 🌪️

As the hours tick by and the big day gets closer, my self-doubt roars louder.

The epic 7.6-mile, 4,000-foot ascent currently feels less like an epic opportunity and more like a series of possible disasters. 🫣

Instead of envisioning crossing the finish line and falling into the arms of my cheering husband (who just crushed his personal cycling record minutes before me), worst-case scenarios repeat in my head:

“I fail because my mind can't endure the suffering long enough… because my body gives out halfway… because I’m left in a ditch to die…” 😣

I've done so much physical training to ready my body for this ride, but now I need something else: mindset training. Because when I stop focusing on fear, another voice comes through:

‼️ "Sue, it's time to trust! Trust yourself. Trust Source. Trust all the people on that mountain who care that you're safe. Trust your husband, who believes in you so much he's encouraging you to be there with him. Everything is okay. Trust, Sue. Trust." ❤️

But, as you know, Mama, even when inner wisdom pipes up with a pep talk...

Knowing is one thing — doing is another... 🙃

Picture an imaginary line of light surrounding you in a circle. Inside that circle, you trust you’re safe. 😌 But even just looking to the edge? Worry takes over. ⚠️ Step outside the circle? You’re sure you're in danger. 😰

You’re hindered or held by how expanded your trust line is.

➳ When your trust circle is contracted, tight, and small, you spend a lot of time and energy in fear, overthinking the past or worrying about the future. You're limiting your potential because most things outside of what you know feel untrustworthy. 😖

➳ But when your trust circle is expanded, your energy increases, as does your joy because you truly trust that everything, including you, is okay. 🥰

Expanding your trust line means more room to explore dreams, get creative about achieving goals, open up to new experiences, and connect with loved ones more deeply.

Trust is the foundation of happiness, the difference between living in fear and living in faith.

3 Tips for Expanding Trust ✨

DO A LITTLE THINKING
Wondering where you could benefit from trusting more?✨ Journal on these questions ✨:

What was a recent moment when you felt vulnerable? How did you handle it?

When was a time when someone else opened up to you? How did it make you feel about them? Did it weaken or strengthen your bond?

Who’s someone you trust deeply? What qualities do they have that help you feel safe?

Is there a goal or idea you’ve been hesitating to take action on? What’s scary, stressful, or uncomfortable about it? What do you need to believe in order to trust you’ll be safe?

PRACTICE CHOOSING TRUST OVER FEAR

Take note when you’re feeling afraid, tense, stressed, or just plain uncomfortable.✨ Then, jump in! ✨

The only way out is through, Mama! Eat fear for breakfast. Much like menopause, you just gotta face it and see yourself through to the other side.

Ask yourself, “What do I need to believe in order to trust I'm safe right now?”

GROW! LOVE! WIN!

Take heart in knowing that in time, after courageously facing many challenges that may have stopped you in the past,✨ you gain a fresh perspective on life. ✨

More things you want actually feel possible. Relationships are smoother. Your confidence becomes stable like concrete, less like wobbly jell-0.

Afraid of a fallout? Know this: when you open your heart and get vulnerable, instead of thinking less of you, people are most likely to feel closer to you! And that's an upside worth taking a risk for. Next time fear weighs you down, remind yourself, "I trust that no matter what happens, I'm okay."

So, where could expanded trust take you, Mama? 😇

Is there a relationship, project, or fear that's been held back, but now you're ready to transform it?

For me, I can see the challenge ahead anew. I can confidently say (at least in this moment), "I honor you, Mt. Washington. I trust you. I trust myself. I trust Source will be there with me. And with Source, I'm always enough. Even if my body and ego get bruised, my soul learns, grows, and soars!” Bring it, mountain!

Trust yourself, Mama. Choose to feel safe and confident enough to transform your life. All you need is already within you, right now. You’ve got this! 💞
