Can you imagine? Walking around telling someone else multiple times a day, “You don’t know.” Yep, “You don’t know.” And… “You don’t know.” Seriously, what could be more disempowering?
The fact is you do know. A part of you does know – what to do, not do, say or not say. Curious how to tap into that kind of intelligence? Keep reading and discover how to get YOUR answers to life’s pressing questions (because your answer may differ from mine.) With practice, your answers will be flowing! My daughter jokes my abrupt knowings can come across as harsh sometimes. I’m working on that! 🙂
Basically, you’re looking for ways to bypass your intellect – the one who’s stuck in facts and figures, endless research, and analyzing everything.
Now, whenever I catch myself saying, “I don’t know,” I STOP. (Hammer time! ← Sorry, couldn’t resist throwing in some MC Hammer.)
First, I stop.
Then I declare: “I do know.”
Sometimes, by saying “I know,” an answer declares itself – for what something means or the next best step to take. But if the answer is muddled, or I’m confused, then I’ll lean into wonder and ask: “What do I need to know about (fill in the blank with a person, place, or thing)?” Asking this question works infinitely better if you time it before you get quiet, dream, or move your body.

GET QUIET
For years I’ve struggled to quiet my mind. It’s like I’m hard-wired to go go go. So when someone tells me I need to meditate more, it can feel like nails on a chalkboard. On the other hand, if you told me to walk up the mountain and repeat: “This is so easy. This is so easy.” I’d reply, awesome! When can I get started?
Everybody quiets their mind differently. Embrace your way. It doesn’t matter how you quiet your mind; just do it daily. I developed a mantra to remind me to slow down: breathe, write, pray, and play! (Read Stress Relief Medicine)
So before you meditate, practice yoga, journal, or do something for pure enjoyment (bungee jumping anyone? Not me!!!) Ask yourself: “What do I need to know about (fill in the blank with a person, place, or thing)?” and see what Divine answer pops up. Seriously, this is my kinda parTAY!

DREAM
Did you know that anytime you imagine or dream (day or night), you’re tapping into greater awareness – where your desires can become real? Think how many times you’ve dreamt about something, and now these people, places, and things are part of your reality. For example, I dreamt of becoming a doctor, a mom, marrying someone I adore, practicing medicine as my heart desires, helping women reclaim vibrant health. The list goes on and continues to grow – there are so many dreams and desires I haven’t yet manifested. How about ripping off 10 pullups like it’s no biggie? Yes, please!
An easy way to tap into greater intelligence with your pressing question is by asking it right before you go to sleep. Because when you sleep, you dream. When you dream, your consciousness explores life outside your physical body – your limited intellect. You tap into the part of you that knows the answer to your burning question. Ask “What do I need to know about (fill in the blank with a person, place, or thing)?” and receive the answer as you dream. Maybe not on your timing. That’s the hard part. Trust in Divine timing. Your answer will come. Truth finds a way to rise to the surface of your awareness.

MOVE!
So much more is happening on my Peloton bike than physical exercise. I work out serious life problems when I sweat. It’s mind-boggling. I start moving my body – dancing to Beyonce with instructor Ally Love – and insights start coming. By the time I finish, I’m ready to conquer the world with my fist in the air or bent over, weeping so taken by gratitude for answers received. It’s just all happening for me on the bike.
Maybe for you, it’s painting or dancing. Any way you can get out of your mind and into your body will allow you to bypass your intellect for Divine insights and answers. By the way, it could also be in the shower! Technically the shower fits into all three categories – get quiet, dream, and move. Any way you slice it, many answers come to me as I shower (including the title of this blog post!)
But beware! Once you know the answer, your truth – your knowing – the most challenging part can be following it. Yikes! Often, following your knowing feels hard because you’re choosing an alternative path, a less common way. And that can feel really uncomfortable, especially if you’re a rule follower. Humans loathe discomfort. We avoid it like the plague. So be sure to surround yourself with people who lovingly hold you accountable to your truth and following it. (see P.S.)
